Alcantara & Sons, Inc. Gets ISO 9002 Certification. The First RP Plywood
Firm to Receive the Prestigious Seal of Quality
C. Alcantara & Sons, Inc. (CASI), the manufacturer of a plywood called Ecowood was awarded the certification after an assessing group from the Philippine office of the SGS Yarsley International Certification Services Ltd. declared that the firm's quality management system is consistent with ISO 9002 standards.
CASI, the founding company of the Alcantara Group of Companies, received last September 12, 1997 the ISO 9002 Certification at its office in Lanang, Davao City, Philippines, affirming the firm's commitment to quality over the years. With the ISO certification, CASI now formally joins the ranks of world-class companies with "effective quality management systems."
The ISO 9002 certification - a part of a broader international standards evaluation program of the ISO 9000 - has given C. Alcantara & Sons, Inc. (CASI) the distinction of being the first plywood company in the Philippines to be ISO-certified.
Quality is Everybody's Business
On the issuance of the certification, CASI President Editha I. Alcantara said it affirms what CASI has been doing all these years, producing top quality products with top rate manufacturing systems and processes.
In a message to the firm's employees, Ms. Alcantara noted their role in making the ISO certification possible. "Quality is everybody's business. We have to have quality in our products and services for us to become a quality company," she declared.
Ms. Alcantara further stressed that the certification will be "our tool to accomplish our goals and reinforce our claim to quality and market leadership in the Philippine plywood industry."
The Company's quality manual exhorts its employees not only to satisfy its customers but also to exceed their expectations with total commitment to quality.
